British Science Week in Year 5 on Thursday 12th March 2026
On Thursday 12th March 2026, as part of British Science Week, the Year 5 classed asked, "Does the way food look, change how it tastes?"
The children had lots of fun investigating regular and irregular shaped carrots. They learned that fruit and vegetables are thrown away each day because they are unusually shaped; making an impact on our environment.
They tasted the carrots that were labelled as non sellable to see if they had a different taste. The findings were interesting as most of the children preferred the non sellable ones, saying that they were sweeter.
They finished the lesson with some marketing ideas to see if they could promote the carrots to sell.
