Monday 19th October 2026 - Glo Week, Daffodil bulb planting and a visit from the Fire Brigade

It was a busy day at St Thomas the Martyr CE on Monday 19th October 2026. As part of the national Glo Week, all of the children were invited to attend school in bright clothing to raise awareness of road safety as the nights become darker. The children donated spare coins to support the Child Brain Injury Trust and following a special assembly worked with Gill and her team from the Parish Council Cleaner Greener Up Holland to plant daffodil bulbs around our school grounds so in the spring we will have a blanket of yellow joy. Families are invited to plant bulbs around Up Holland on Daffodil Day this Saturday 24th October. Please see this week's newsletter for times and locations if you wish to take part.

In the  afternoon the crew from Skelmersdale Fire Station came to remind Year 6 about Fire Safety, following their visit when the children were in Year 2. The children had remembered so much information from thir last visit, which confirms that they have a great understanding of safety measures as we approach November 5th. The Year 2 class learnt more about road safety when the fire brigade visited their classroom.
