STEM Club and Art in Year 2 on Friday 24th April 2026
On Friday 24th April 2026, the Year 2 class started their new topic in Art, learning all about the artist Amira Gale, studying the colours she used, as well as patterns, shapes and her unique perspective of shells and seaside objects. Next week they will be sketching some of her work in their Art books. Finally the time had come to release their beautiful butterflies into the wild. The children found a safe and calm place to release them, also saying a little prayer to send them on their way.
In the afternoon, the Stem club started a new project, all about Britain's invasive plants that are terrorising our natural rivers and ponds. Over the next few weeks, the children will investigate the dangers caused and come up with a solution to help and illuminate the problem. They will design a gadget, thinking about materials, animal welfare, human resources and cost. Using all of their knowledge and imagination, they hope to build a scale model to be entered into a competition.
